Educare Staff
All the Educare staff are qualified and experienced in child care – or working towards such qualifications - and are trained in Paediatric First Aid, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding and Manual Handling. All staff are subject to a check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The ratio of staff to children is 1:3 for 0-2 years, 1:4 for 2-3 years and 1:8 for 3-5 years - due to the recognised high standard of care the nursery staff provide, the nursery is used from time to time as a professional placement for students studying for nursery nursing qualifications or other related qualifications, however we restrict the number of students at any one time and all students are vetted.
Our Philosophy of Care
Whilst we care for your child we strive to meet the following aims in our everyday practice.
- to introduce each child to a wide range of new experiences which are relevant to his/her level of development
- to develop an understanding of each child’s individuality
- to give each child opportunities to express his/her own ideas and through being partners in play and help to extend themselves
- to encourage the development of new skills
- to share our knowledge of each child with you as parents
Our Curriculum
In order to help us meet our aims we have adopted a child care programme, which is a balance of freely chosen play, and adult led group times.
The Early Years' Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the development, learning and care of children from birth to five years. All registered providers of early years care are required to use the EYFS statutory framework.
We have a basic routine so that the children know what is expected of them, but we are flexible in our approach to their changing needs throughout the day.
The nursery environment is arranged so that the children feel happy and secure and at the same time can acquire necessary skills and concepts through their play.
Play in a stimulating environment promotes all areas of a child's development.
Involving Parents
We attach great importance on ensuring parents are given the opportunity to be involved in the nursery and the child’s development as much as possible, and have access to visit the nursery at any time.
We encourage parents to stay initially to help their child to adjust to the nursery environment.
Your Say
We take great pride in our nursery staff’s reputation for providing quality care, but in the unlikely event of a complaint, the Educare Nursery has a procedure to ensure that your comments are dealt with in a fair way. A copy can be obtained from the Nursery Manager.
Safety and Security
The safety of all children in our care takes priority. As well as general health and safety, the building has been designed to ensure that all visitors to the nursery can be monitored.
The main entrance to the building is locked at all times, visitors without an appointment are not allowed in the nursery.
If you require anyone other than yourself to collect your child, this person must be registered with us.
Toys
Although it may be necessary to bring a favourite toy to settle a child at first, we ask that children do not borrow our equipment to take home, as it is difficult for staff to keep track of these items.
