Educare Nursery, Beverley, East Yorkshire

Educare Staff
All the Educare staff are qualified and experienced (NNEB Diploma in Childcare or equivalent) in child care – or working towards such qualifications - and are trained in Emergency First Aid, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene. The ratio of staff to children is 1:3 for 0-2 years, 1:4 for 2-3 years and 1:8 for 3-5 years - due to the recognised high standard of care the nursery staff provide, the nursery is used from time to time as a professional placement for students studying for nursery nursing qualifications or other related qualifications, however we restrict the number of students at any one time and all students are vetted.

Our Philosophy of Care
Educare Nursery gardenWhilst we care for your child we strive to meet the following aims in our everyday practice.

  • to introduce each child to a wide range of new experiences which are relevant to his/her level of development
  • to develop an understanding of each child’s individuality
  • to give each child opportunities to express his/her own ideas and through being partners in play and help them extend these
  • to encourage the development of new skills
  • to share our knowledge of each child with you as parents

Our Curriculum
In order to help us meet our aims we have adopted a child care programme, which is a balance of freely chosen play, and adult led group times.

We have a basic routine so that the children know what is expected of them, but we are flexible in our approach to their changing needs throughout the day.

The nursery environment is arranged so that the children feel happy and secure and at the same time can acquire necessary skills and concepts through their play. Educare Nursery garden with outdoor play facilities

Play in a stimulating environment promotes

  • Social and emotional skills
  • Physical skills
  • Intellectual development

Involving Parents
We attach great importance on ensuring parents are given the opportunity to be involved in the nursery and the child’s development as much as possible, and have access to visit the nursery at any time.

We encourage parents to stay initially to help their child to adjust to the nursery environment.

Safety and Security
The safety of all children in our care takes priority. As well as general health and safety, the building has been designed to ensure that all visitors to the nursery can be monitored.

The main entrance to the building is locked at all times, visitors without an appointment are not allowed in the nursery. The main nursery entrance is covered by CCTV and all doors are alarmed.

If you require anyone other than yourself to collect your child, this person must be registered with us.

Sickness
Please remember to phone the Nursery Manager if your child will not be attending. It is helpful to do so before 9.30am in order to cancel lunch.

We cannot admit a child with a high temperature, sore throat, sickness and/or diarrhoea and any child who has been prescribed antibiotics cannot be admitted within the first 48 hours. If the staff consider a child is not well enough to attend the nursery you will be asked to take him/her home.

Educare Nursery providing high quality childcareInfectious diseases
The nursery is registered with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and OFSTED and abides by its regulations. These include adequate precautions against the spread of infectious diseases. In the case of your child coming down with a infectious disease, please inform the Nursery Manager of the diagnosis immediately.

Your Say
We take great pride in our nursery staff’s reputation for providing quality care, but in the unlikely event of a complaint, the Educare Nursery has a procedure to ensure that your comments are dealt with in a fair way. A copy can be obtained from the Nursery Manager.

Special Needs and Disabilities
As far as possible we cater for all children including those who may have special needs and disabilities. We have a special educational needs nursery nurse and we comply with the disability discrimination act.

Equal Opportunity Statement
The Educare Nursery principles of Equal Opportunities are well established in the nursery’s approach and aims. Childcare is provided on the basis of equal opportunities irrespective of gender, physical ability and difference of ethnic or religious backgrounds.

The Educare Nursery strives to provide equality of opportunity as an employer delivering equal opportunities to all staff and potential staff in terms of recruitment, promotion training and access to opportunities.

Toys
Although it may be necessary to bring a favourite toy to settle a child at first, we ask that children do not borrow our equipment to take home, as it is difficult for staff to keep track of these items.
