Built around the needs of your child

The Nursery has four rooms named after flowers - Daffodils (babies 0-1 years), Sunflowers (toddlers), Buttercups (2-3 years) and Bluebells (3-5 years), and whilst they are generally based on the child's age we understand that each child is an individual, therefore the room ages are set as a guide. The child's key person and parent/carer will discuss the ideal time to move into the next room.

Daffodil Room (Babies)

The early stage of life requires this room to reflect a home from home environment and provides a gentle transition from home to nursery. The Daffodil Room has a great focus on the baby's senses and our resources, facilities and activities reflect this. There is a 'sensory' area and the staff encourage exploration in all areas linked with the Early Years' Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Sunflower Room (Toddlers)

This is the stage when a child has increased mobility and investigation therefore the room has appropriate resources and equipment to ensure their further development. The Sunflower Room has specific resources to develop this stage both physically and imaginatively.

Buttercup Room (2-3 years)

At this stage of a child's life there is independence and a developing of their own distinct personality. Self-help skills using activities such as circle time, dressing support and toilet support. During this period the children are introduced to a more structured day in preparation for the learning which lies ahead of them but it still allows the children to flow freely and flexibly through the areas they choose.

Bluebell Room (3-5 years)

The Bluebell Room is the largest section within the nursery. Here we offer opportunities for the children to learn through their play. Activities are planned to offer maximum learning to enable each child to test out their ideas, to have a go, make decisions and to choose for themselves.

In order to prepare your child for school regular observations and assessments are carried out following the six areas of learning, in accordance with the Early Years' Foundation Stage.

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communications, language and literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

All the activities are planned and are prepared to meet your child’s individual needs, which is discussed with you on a regular basis. We ensure that all children are valued and develop a sense of achievement through learning which is made pleasurable.

Educare Garden

The garden offers a safe, exciting, challenging and healthy environment. At Educare Nursery the outdoor environment provides many important learning opportunities the children are able to move freely between the inside and the outside environments, with similar activities being carried out in both areas. Some examples of such activities are, tending to the vegetable patch, developing early writing through chalking and water play, exploring and investigating sounds in the music area, and developing an understanding of numbers through games such as hide and seek or what time is it Mr. Wolf.
